And The Search Goes On....

Well as time goes on it seems almost hopeless. The creature that is known as “customers” seem to be so elusive I cannot find one. I pack my back pack; I put on my exploring suit, and inventory my supplies. My tools include Google Adwords, Craigslist, The Thrifty Nickel, and other link directories. I have changed my game plan, lowered prices, changed suppliers, and still the customer is hard to find.
The traffic to www.ariftintime.com has steadily increased, but still no buys. I wait patiently at this time for one to step into my site. It seems harder and harder each day. Statistically most businesses fail with in the first year due to poor planning or underfunding. I refuse to be one of those tick marks, I refuse to fold. My business will grow.

A Rift In Time has recently added fresh roasted coffee and the Peace Frogs line of clothing to its growing inventory. One of the hardest objectives in online sales has to be competition. I can go to Google or other search engines and check any price to just about everything on the web. This puts a damper considering most businesses have to play within that price window between the supplier’s price and being able to make a profit. Like every business there are advantages and problems. I do not use the term “disadvantages” for I truly believe that with any advantage and the right tools issues can be fixed as disadvantages remain.

Well I will close for this week. Just know that starting and running any business is not a cake walk. I have worked about 230 hours this past month and haven’t made much of a profit yet. But with hard work and perseverance I will overcome.

All Hard Work

Well it has taken allot of work to start my business A Rift In Time. This dream all started when I got out medically from the U.S. Army. As I pondered on what I was going to do I realized that I cannot work for anyone again. The Army did allot of good in my life, but as far as treating a person well.... I can say the Army does not look at people as people. It seems as far as a team that work towards a common goal just is not there anymore. Every higher up person or buddy was out for themselves and no one else. This became very apparent when it was time to get serious work done. All of those so called higher ups would vanish. It is no wonder that distrust was rampant. Not to say that all of the Army is that way, just my experience.

So with that in my head I spent months doing research on many different ways to go into business for myself. I looked over franchises, vending routes, cleaning carpets, free online stores, doing surveys and the list goes on. What it really all boils down to is if things seem too good to be true than they are. I have spent allot of money and time building this business. I will expand it and grow it into a great company. So for those who strive to work for themselves please do research on several different avenues to bring in the money. There are so many scams out there; even I have been caught up in those con-artists traps. If you are not educated on the matter then those evil people will take advantage of you. A prime example of this is as follows: After doing allot of research I decided to open up a bulk vending company, I mean who doesn't love a hand full of candy or a gum ball. Well I went through a legal service company who I will leave out their name as is it was just my experience and I did get the service that they said they would provide. I spent over $300 to get my DBA and Business license for my company. Two months later I finally received my papers. Well to make a long story short it turns out my state did not require all that. In that two month time frame I hatched my current business A Rift In Time (www.ariftintime.com). It took me a whole two days and $30 to do the same thing that company did. Even reputable businesses sometimes seem to be a scam. I would suggest that all those who want to start a business visit the Small Business Administration (http://www.sba.gov/) and there local state goverments website. With that it will tell you all you need and fees needed to be paid.

As I sit here and write this I must say, I am not perfect and I am still learning. It is too early to tell how well A Rift In Time will do. Also I am still working on my Businesses degree through DeVry whom I recommend to all. Their online classes are great and I have had no problem with the School. Well I will close for now. Please continue to follow me as I update this Blog. Also please visit my website www.ariftintime.com or follow me on Facebook. Thanks and I hope you enjoyed this!
